It costs 3 cents to make a $1 bill.


BUT "they need to be replaced after about 18 months. Coins, which cost about 12 cents to make, last 30 years." That's why the US Govt. keeps trying to wane its citizens off dollars and get them to use coin dollars, like the Sacagawea or Susan B. Anthony Dollar.
